Update:     Nanofiltration 2022 will be held on 27 June to 30 June 2022 on the occasion of the launch of the New Nanofiltration book. The topics will cover the theme of the book: Nanofiltration: Principles, Applications and New Materials. Many of the authors will present their contributions, where additional oral and poster presentations will reflect the state-of-the-art and future developments in nanofiltration. The invitation to submit abstracts is open. I am hoping to welcome some of our membrane emeriti such that we will have an enjoyable membrane family meeting. The venue is a special one. The Achalm is a mountain near the Swabian Alb that once was a 13th century castle, named after nearby ‘running water’ (Ach). Located in Reutlingen, in the centre of the state Baden-Württemberg. Immersed in a rich South German culture and the amazing natural environment of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Swabian Alb, the region offers technological highlights (the home of Porsche and Mercedes, Hugo Boss) as well as incredible recreational delights – and membrane history. Personally, this is my home and it will be a great pleasure to welcome many international colleagues to the Achalm. Our conference room is a sheep barn, for shepherds and their flock are still at home on the Achalm. We will enjoy stunning views, visit Lichtenstein Castle, have dinner at the Forsthaus and relax with a short hike up to the Achalm and in the stunning infinity pool – or the sauna with a view. MSA Annual Conference and General Meeting (Online)

WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR We are pleased to announce that the 8th MSA Early Career Researcher Membrane Symposium 2021, endorsed by the Membrane Society of Australasia (MSA), will return this year and will be held online on Thursday, November 25. The MSA ECR Symposium is Australia’s most renowned symposium for membrane scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers. The MSA ECR Symposium has a strong track record of success and typically brings together young delegates from Australasia and from the rest of the world in a unique, exciting event. The symposium aims to provide a vibrant platform for young researchers to present and share research ideas and network with peers. Given the current COVID restrictions and the worldwide pandemic, the symposium will be held online only and will be hosted by the Monash ARC Hub for Energy-Efficient Separation. The symposium program will feature specific sessions for ECRs and PhD students to present and showcase their research work, whereas an interactive networking session will be organised in the second half of the symposium.
